Do The Locomotion

This past weekend was so nice and relaxing – a Saturday morning workout followed by watching Jerry Maguire (which, I am ashamed to admit, I had never watched the whole way through), a movie with friends, dinner out, girl time on Sunday… just what I needed to bring some zen into my attitude to prepare for the craziness of the following weeks! I wanted a comfy yet cute outfit that matched my weekend vibe, so I chose this cotton skirt and oversized tee. I wore this all weekend. Seriously, both Saturday and Sunday (please tell me I’m not the only one who does that). I actually found this tee on the clearance rack at the Gap in the men’s section and it happens to be one my best purchases. It has been well worn, and there is a small hole that has started that I am currently choosing to ignore because I will be devastated when I have to retire this to a bedtime tee.

To my fiance’s excitement, we lucked out during this photo shoot with a train in the background. Every time we use these train tracks he is always so bummed when a train doesn’t come because he has been wanting to use the blur as a background. We will have to practice a bit more, but this was a good first run!

I hope everyone’s week is going well!

If you can’t tell by the color of my skirt, I’m ready to dive head first into warmer weather. What I love most about the the first transition days into my spring wardrobe is the opportunity to incorporate bright, bold colors that I had otherwise forgotten about. The mixing of florals on top came natural to me as a way to balance out the bright skirt…. which is how pattern mixing I think should always feel. It should never feel forced. You try it out and it either works or it doesn’t. On this particular cold winter day it felt completely effortless.

These pictures were taken this past weekend right before a lovely brunch with new blogger friends Amber and Elaine from Bloody Best and Monika from Caravan of Style. We tested out The Southern’s Bloody Mary menu.., and I must say, I was impressed. The bacon bourbon bloody went perfectly with my fried chicken and biscuit entree… although I have to say I regretted not wearing my favorite stretchy leggings.

Have a great weekend!

I know, I know – more prints! I just can’t get enough lately. And I’ve recently been on the hunt for some good tops, so when I saw this lovely tank top in the sale section I bee-lined to it… sorry, couldn’t help it 🙂 But seriously, this repeating bee print is just too much fun, and I’m loving this bright pink (which is very unlike me), especially mixed with the minty fresh jeans. I wore this out for drinks with a friend at one of my favorite Houston bars, Boheme Cafe, and I’m convinced it will be my go to outfit when I just can’t decide what to throw on and want to look refined yet casual. And I apologize for having these wedges on repeat – apparently I need to be on the hunt for shoes next, hehe!

Happy hump day! Half way through the week people!
