The Rehearsal Outfit

It’s taken a couple of weeks, but I’m feeling rested and refreshed after an intense (but completely awesome) wedding season. After a weekend of doing essentially nothing other than eating and watching Harry Potter, I’m ready to take on the fall and the rest of the events we have coming up this year. I wore this romper to both rehearsal dinners that I attended the past few weeks, and given the slightly cooler evening temperatures we have had in Houston the past few days, it’s been the perfect outfit to continue throwing on. Clearly I have a slight obsession with the romper – I’ve been wearing it every chance I get. But I never thought I would feel so good in one of these things. A romper is one of those pieces that you might have in your closet but it only makes it out  a few times a year at best. This version has been surprisingly versatile. Effortless yet classy. My dad did ask me if I was heading to a Bee Gee’s show when he saw it, but that’s cool… who doesn’t like some 70’s disco pop, right?

I’ve Got Sunshine

This dress is not my usual style – I typically stick to more structured materials and designs, and when I do decide to wear something with a more free form material, I tend to lean towards simple and clean cut lines. But while perusing Alternative Apparel’s website, I found myself drawn to this dress, particularly the interesting sunshine yellow pattern with its water color appearance. It is just so summery and effortless, with an easy-to-wear design on top, and can go from barefoot on the beach to boho dressy with heels. Plus it has pockets (no brainer, always). It went on sale, so I decided to go for the unusual, and am happy to report that it has been one of my favorite things to slip on for simple weekends. It could probably use a little altering, but I figure, what’s the point? It’s always going to create an oversized statement, and I feel that’s how it should be.

I finally feel like our place is put together, and am looking forward to tackling a couple of DIY projects this weekend for finishing touches, as well as planning some fun future travel plans. Have a great weekend!

The Overall

I don’t know what it is about these 90’s trends that I am drawn to, but I seriously cannot get enough of it. I’ve had my eye on a couple of overall dresses the past several weeks, but haven’t been compelled to make a purchase. That is until I found this little gem – I love everything about it, from the polka dots to the button and pocket details to the stretchy denim material. And at under $35 it was no-brainer. Looking forward to restyling it for colder weather this winter!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful October thus far! My fiance is leaving on Friday for Michigan for wedding preparations and I’m excited to have the place to myself this weekend to try and relax. The calm before the storm (albeit a good storm, but a storm none the less :)).
