Thursday Thing To Try – younique 3D Fiber Lashes

DSC_0729Have any of you guys heard of Younique? It’s a relatavely new make up brand that we’ve started seeing pop up more and more the past few months. The brand is run as a direct sell business (think Mary Kay or Avon) where someone can start their own ecommerce site selling the products.

Our lovely friend Bri has her own shop, and asked us if we wanted to give the 3D Fiber Lashes a try so we could review the product here on Style Sound. Of course we would!! Many of you may also know some ladies selling this product, and have therefore seen lots of before and after pictures throughout social media – it’s a pretty dramatic difference.

Neither of us were very familiar with the product, and I think we were both a little intimated when we recieved the mascara – we are both pretty simple when it comes to everyday make up routines, and the fiber wand was unlike anything we’ve seen. However, it ended up being very easy to use, and the dramatic difference between using the 3D Fiber Lashes vs regular mascara did not disapoint! Without even using an eyelash curler you can see a dramatic difference in both length and volume, while not feeling like you are wearing chunky fake lashes.

Below are a few pictures of the product, as well as some Before/After shots:

DSC_0725Here is how it works. Apply regular mascara and allow to dry (for every day Haley loves Laura Mercier while Karrin loves Almay One Coat) . Next, doing one eye at a time, apply the Transplant Gel (which looks like a regular mascara wand as pictured below) :

So if you don’t feel like going lash crazy during the day but want to pump up the volume for the evening, you don’t have to start over – you just add the 3D Fiber Lashes to what you already have on!

The Rehearsal Outfit

It’s taken a couple of weeks, but I’m feeling rested and refreshed after an intense (but completely awesome) wedding season. After a weekend of doing essentially nothing other than eating and watching Harry Potter, I’m ready to take on the fall and the rest of the events we have coming up this year. I wore this romper to both rehearsal dinners that I attended the past few weeks, and given the slightly cooler evening temperatures we have had in Houston the past few days, it’s been the perfect outfit to continue throwing on. Clearly I have a slight obsession with the romper – I’ve been wearing it every chance I get. But I never thought I would feel so good in one of these things. A romper is one of those pieces that you might have in your closet but it only makes it out  a few times a year at best. This version has been surprisingly versatile. Effortless yet classy. My dad did ask me if I was heading to a Bee Gee’s show when he saw it, but that’s cool… who doesn’t like some 70’s disco pop, right?

Transition Statement

It’s September! That time of year where we are all a bit sad to say goodbye to summer and it’s lovely memories, but oh-so stoked to break out fall fashion. But September can be a weird month, as it is still a little too warm to comfortably embrace autumn’s cozy and chic trends (and let’s be honest, for those of us living in southern states, this matter remains a struggle well through November).  So to welcome the new season, I thought I would pull together some pieces that are perfect for this summer-fall transition period. Clothes and accessories that are light and simple enough to take on summer’s final warm rays, but with colors and textures that are fall appropriate.
