Kyle and I recently spent a week in northern Michigan in the Traverse City area for a couple of weddings and vacation time. As anticipated, it was absolutely wonderful. Summertime in Michigan cannot be beat, and this is the first time since we moved to Houston that we were able to get some quality time along the shores of Lake Michigan without running back and forth across the state for various occasions. Kyle happened to be in one of the weddings, so a majority of the week was spent in Leland – a quaint fishing town on Lake Michigan – with the rest of the wedding party. We all stayed at this amazing 100-year old cottage right on the beach, and spent the days building sand castles, drinking, preparing for the wedding, and visiting some cool spots in Traverse City. And beyond getting some quality time with friends and family that we miss dearly, we were able to visit with folks that we don’t get to see most visits home, such as Tricia (check out her blog, Growth By The Season, it’s awesome!), as well as some of Kyle’s childhood pals.
Below are some outfit shots that we took while strolling through the fishing village in Leland and some random shots from the rest of our trip. And let me just tell you about this maxi dress – it is the most comfortable and versatile piece I own, and is currently on sale, so anyone reading this should seriously consider buying it. Right meow. In fact, I’m thinking about getting it in another color!
Fresh fish, NOMMMM!
My favorite sand sculpture of the week – the Leland Sand Beast – of which most of the credit goes to Kyle’s friend Don and his incredible sand sculpting skills (I was commissioned for detail work :))
Old Mission Peninsula lighthouse.
A memorable week up north! Can’t wait for our next trip up.
For now, back to reality and unpacking this new place – have a great weekend everyone!
